A mining is the removal of minerals (like Coal , gold, or silver) from the ground.

A Mining is when more of a material is taken out of the ground than is put back in, it's called Mining. This may be true for minerals, oil, water, etc. We are taking five to six million acre-feet of water a year from underground sources, while restoring only about one million acre-feet.
