A Nitrogen Oxides (NOx): is NOx is the collective term for nitrogen compounds such as NO and NO2. These two nitrogen oxides are an environmental and public health concern because human activity has increased their concentration in the atmosphere. NO and NO2 are interconvertible and are precursor molecules for the production of ground-level ozone.
