The Asphalt Chip Seals (Asphalt Chip Sealing) is a paving treatment in which a thin Layer of asphalt emulsion binder is applied and immediately covered with a layer of light-colored aggregate.
Afterwards, the aggregate is pressed into the binder using a heavy roller resulting in an exposed aggregate surface. Using light-colored aggregate increases reflectance as the surface wears.
