A Global Compact is First proposed in an address to The World Economic Forum in Davos in 1999 by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the Global Compact seeks to advance responsible corporate citizenship by encouraging businesses to support nine fundamental principles in the area of human rights, labor standards and the environment:
