German: Erdgas
A Natural Gas is Natural gas is a fossil fuel formed when layers of buried plants and animals decompose over a long period of time. The energy that the plants and animals originally obtained from the sun is stored in the natural gas. The primary component of natural gas is methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Natural gas is a nonrenewable resource because it cannot be replenished on a human time frame. Natural gas power plants provide about 14 percent of the electricity produced in the United States, ranking third behind coal and nuclear power. Natural gas is available in most areas of the U.S. However, natural gas is not as plentiful as coal, and it is estimated that United States' supply of natural gas will last only 60 more years.
